Museum spaces—particularly those with large volumes and an industrial character—often require additional reverberation control. Hard surfaces on ceilings, walls, and floors readily reflect sound, potentially making the interior noisy and less comfortable for visitors.
For the exhibition space at the Silesian Museum (specifically the "Łaźnia Gwarek" / Miners' Bathhouse building in Katowice), we applied Sonaspray® spray-on acoustic plaster to the ceilings. This cellulose-fiber-based solution creates a distinctive, slightly textured finish while effectively absorbing sound.
In this instance, the finish complements the interior's character perfectly. The space showcases various types of machinery and equipment; consequently, the ceiling’s raw, industrial aesthetic serves as a natural backdrop for the exhibits without competing with the displayed objects.
Using Sonaspray® made it possible to combine acoustic performance with the desired visual effect—reducing reverberation and enhancing visitor comfort—without the need for suspended panels or other conspicuous acoustic elements.
