A cavity wall is one solution for insulating against structure-borne sound transmitted from the ground to the building.
It is a slab system, consisting of a load-bearing structure and, in addition, a suitable vibration isolation mat, installed on one or both sides. Such a wall is placed in an excavated slot, separating the protected building from the source of material noise.
Slurry walls, unfortunately, have one basic disadvantage - due to the possibility of bouncing vibrations in the ground, such as from rock communities, it is possible to bypass the barrier created with them. For this reason, it is not always an effective solution, but in many cases the only one possible and often successful.
The product recommended for diaphragm walls will usually be Sylodyn®, due to its resistance to weather and water.
